 The war may be over and Voldemort dead and gone, but it seems as though the scars left on the wizarding world have yet to heal. Prejudice and discrimination still live on, grudges held against others for the wrongs done, for families being torn apart.
When the news of Narcissa Malfoy’s gruesome death spreads, many don’t find it in their hearts to feel any sort of pity. It didn’t matter that all evidence pointed to her being tortured for hours before her death. She was after all a former Death Eater and in many witches and wizards opinion, got what was coming to her.
The second body was found two weeks later, the victim murdered in the same way as the first and yet another former Death Eater. By the time the third victim appeared, it was apparent that something sinister was taking place and even though the murders still counted as crimes, there were some who were far too willing to turn a blind eye to them, reasoning that is was about time someone got back for all the death and destruction caused by Voldemort’s followers. Even the newly appointed Minister of Magic couldn’t see it in himself to find wrong in what was being done.
But it isn’t just Death Eaters who are the target; anyone who associated with them, including family members, are finding themselves in danger, no matter how innocent they may be. Of course to many, just being related to one of Voldemort's followers is enough to make you guilty. The Aurors have their hands full trying to catch the killer while keeping those who they used to hunt down safe, something that is more challenging for some then others. Yet even with their best efforts, the bloodshed continues.
And what about the former Death Eaters? If anything, this has only strengthened their views of blood purity. The fact that someone of lesser blood is running around attacking them and their loved ones is enough to make some of them resort back to their old ways. It is Voldemort’s nightmare come to life, the nightmare of purebloods living in fear of those who are considered below them, and they for one aren’t going to stand by and do nothing.
